“Veio a mim a palavra do Senhor dos Exércitos, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Tenho grandes zelos de Sião e com grande indignação tenho zelos dela. Assim diz o Senhor: Voltarei para Sião e habitarei no meio de Jerusalém; Jerusalém chamar-se-á a cidade fiel, e o monte do Senhor dos Exércitos, monte santo. Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Ainda nas praças de Jerusalém sentar-se-ão velhos e velhas, levando cada um na mão o seu arrimo, por causa da sua muita idade. E há de acontecer, ó casa de Judá, ó casa de Israel, que, assim como fostes maldição entre as nações, assim vos salvarei, e sereis bênção; não temais, e sejam fortes as vossas mãos. Porque assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Como pensei fazer-vos mal, quando vossos pais me provocaram à ira, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, e não me arrependi, assim pensei de novo em fazer bem a Jerusalém e à casa de Judá nestes dias; não temais. Eis as coisas que deveis fazer: Falai a verdade cada um com o seu próximo, executai juízo nas vossas portas, segundo a verdade, em favor da paz; nenhum de vós pense mal no seu coração contra o seu próximo, nem ame o juramento falso, porque a todas estas coisas eu aborreço, diz o Senhor. A palavra do Senhor dos Exércitos veio a mim, dizendo: Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: O jejum do quarto mês, e o do quinto, e o do sétimo, e o do décimo serão para a casa de Judá regozijo, alegria e festividades solenes; amai, pois, a verdade e a paz. Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Ainda sucederá que virão povos e habitantes de muitas cidades; e os habitantes de uma cidade irão à outra, dizendo: Vamos depressa suplicar o favor do Senhor e buscar ao Senhor dos Exércitos; eu também irei. Virão muitos povos e poderosas nações buscar em Jerusalém ao Senhor dos Exércitos e suplicar o favor do Senhor. “Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Naquele dia, sucederá que pegarão dez homens, de todas as línguas das nações, pegarão, sim, na orla da veste de um judeu e lhe dirão: Iremos convosco, porque temos ouvido que Deus está convosco” (Zacarias 8).

Depois da mensagem de advertência no capítulo 7, o capítulo 8 traz uma mensagem encorajadora. Uma criança castigada também precisa ser consolada. Oséias diz que o Senhor despedaça, mas também sara, faz a ferida, mas também a liga (Os 6.1). O período de luto deve chegar ao fim e o tempo de jejum deve tornar-se um tempo de alegria (Zc 8.19). O Senhor encoraja Seu povo com as palavras: “Sejam fortes as mãos de todos vós que nestes dias ouvis estas palavras da boca dos profetas, a saber, nos dias em que foram postos os fundamentos da Casa do Senhor dos Exércitos, para que o templo fosse edificado” (v.9). Os profetas mencionados são Ageu e Zacarias, que estavam em Jerusalém quando as obras de reconstrução do templo recomeçaram (Ed 5.1). Em outra passagem o Senhor diz:“...não temais, e sejam fortes as vossas mãos... não temais!” (vv.13,15).

Zacarias 7 termina com a frase: “Espalhei-os com um turbilhão por entre todas as nações que eles não conheceram; e a terra foi assolada atrás deles, de sorte que ninguém passava por ela, nem voltava; porque da terra desejável fizeram uma desolação”.

O capítulo 8 apresenta um tom diferente, falando da reunião de Israel nos últimos tempos e de sua renovação, pois quando o Senhor enviou esta profecia o povo já havia voltado da Babilônia. “Eu os trarei, e habitarão em Jerusalém; eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus, em verdade e em justiça” (v.8).

Israel não está sujeito a nenhuma força do destino, a nenhum governante ou dominador terreno nem ao transcorrer da História, mas a Deus.

Não são os povos que determinam o futuro de Jerusalém. Nem resoluções ou sanções da ONU, nem a vontade do islã decidem sobre o futuro de Israel. São palavras para Israel, mas dirigem-se contra as nações. Por assim dizer, trata-se do eco das palavras de Zacarias 1.14-15: “Com grande empenho, estou zelando por Jerusalém e por Sião. E, com grande indignação, estou irado contra as nações que vivem confiantes”. Aqui fala o Senhor dos Exércitos. É palavra Sua que o profeta recebe. Esta declaração de que é o Senhor falando se estende por todo o capítulo (vv. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23).

O futuro de Israel não está baseado em uma invenção humana, da mesma forma como Israel também não é um produto de conquistas humanas ou fruto do acaso. A recondução dos judeus ao seu lar e a formação do Estado de Israel em 1948, assim como a tomada de Jerusalém em 1967, são provas da força da Palavra de Deus. O fato de os judeus viverem novamente em sua terra é uma prova da verdade e da confiabilidade da Palavra de Deus. Passado, presente e futuro de Israel estão submissos às declarações de Deus, de Suas profecias e promessas.

Mas também todo aquele que crê em Jesus, todo cristão renascido pelo Seu Espírito está sob as firmes promessas de Deus em Jesus Cristo: “A palavra do Senhor, porém, permanece eternamente. Ora, esta é a palavra que vos foi evangelizada” (1 Pe 1.25). Israel é um povo de maravilhas, pois tem um Deus maravilhoso: “Assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Se isto for maravilhoso aos olhos do restante deste povo naqueles dias, será também maravilhoso aos meus olhos? – diz o Senhor dos Exércitos” (Zc 8.6). A Palavra de Deus sobrepuja qualquer idéia humana. Provavelmente os próprios israelitas quase não conseguiam acreditar no que estavam ouvindo. Mas alguma coisa seria impossível para Deus? Na verdade, todas as coisas são possíveis para Ele! Ele ajuda a sair de situações completamente sem perspectiva e ilumina a mais profunda escuridão. Ele levou Seu povo vindo do terrível Holocausto de volta para casa, deu-lhe as maiores vitórias sobre seus inimigos, e também lhe dará o futuro messiânico. Já no capítulo 3.8 ouvia-se esta mensagem: “Ouve, pois, Josué, sumo sacerdote, tu e os teus companheiros que se assentam diante de ti, porque são homens de presságio; eis que eu farei vir o meu servo, o Renovo”.

As maravilhas em Israel referem-se, na verdade, a um único homem: Jesus Cristo. Ele é o Renovo, o Maravilhoso Conselheiro (Is 9.6), que veio e virá para Israel, que fez e fará maravilhas. Será que alguma coisa seria difícil demais para Ele (Gn 18.14)? Quando Manoá, pai de Sansão, perguntou pelo nome do Senhor, Ele respondeu: “Por que perguntas assim pelo meu nome, que é maravilhoso?” (Jz 13.18). Este Deus determinará e conduzirá o futuro de Israel de forma maravilhosa.

Ainda precisamos de uma prova do poder da Palavra de Deus? Aqui está: “Eis que salvarei o meu povo, tirando-o da terra do Oriente e da terra do Ocidente; eu os trarei, e habitarão em Jerusalém; eles serão o meu povo, e eu serei o seu Deus, em verdade e em justiça” (Zc 8.7-8). A frase “da terra do Oriente e da terra do Ocidente” muito provavelmente simboliza o mundo inteiro, que experimenta o nascer e pôr do sol (confira Is 11.12; 43.5-6).

Naquela época, a saída de Israel da Babilônia foi uma condução de todo um povo de volta para sua pátria vindo de um único lugar. Em nossos dias, a volta de Israel à sua terra acontece a partir dos quatro cantos do mundo. Nunca houve coisa igual na história de Israel. Isto prova a confiabilidade mas também a atualidade da Palavra de Deus em nosso tempo. A condução de Israel em direção ao Messias não pode ser detida. Nada pode impedir que Deus realize Seu plano. O Holocausto não conseguiu impedir os planos de Deus, e qualquer outro poder do mundo tampouco o conseguirá.

A história recente de Israel assemelha-se ao cheiro bom que vem da cozinha quando o almoço está quase pronta e falta pouco para nos sentarmos à mesa. A restauração de Israel em nossos dias é o aperitivo para o cumprimento completo no Milênio (v.8).
