UMA  MUDANÇA AUDACIOSA DE RUTE

RUTE estava andando ao lado de Noemi numa estrada que se estendia pelos áridos planaltos de Moabe. Não havia mais ninguém além das duas no meio daquela imensa paisagem. Já era quase noite, e Rute olhava para sua sogra, talvez se perguntando se não seria melhor procurar um lugar para dormir. Rute tinha muito carinho por Noemi e faria todo o possível para cuidar dela.

"Não insista para que te abandone, e deixe de seguir-te! Porque aonde quer que tu fores irei eu; onde quer que pousares, ali pousarei eu; o teu povo é o meu povo, o teu Deus é o meu Deus." (Rute 1:16-17) Estas são as palavras que Rute disse à sua sogra, Noemi, quando recusou-se a deixar que ela volte à terra de Judá sozinha. No entanto, ao ler o Livro de Rute em português não entendemos toda a mensagem!

UM SIGNIFICADO TOTALMENTE NOVO
No original em Hebraico, a palavra "insista" falada por Rute é "tifguei". Ela vem da raiz (פגע) que não significa apenas insistir, mas algo muito mais físico. Significa pressionar alguém agressivamente, até mesmo causando dano. Ao rejeitar a oferta de Noemi para ficar em Moabe, a Rute demonstra sua verdadeira vontade de unir-se ao povo judeu. A decisão de Rute de transformar-se em judia teve implicações tremendas: o seu filho se transformaria no avô do grande Rei David! Muitos séculos após a decisão de Rute, uma criança milagrosa nasceu na mesma aldeia e família. Essa criança era Jesus.

UMA DECISÃO QUE AFETOU UMA NAÇÃO
Rute nos ensina que decisões pequenas às vezes podem ter repercussões extraordinárias. Rute não sabia que seguir Noemi até a Terra de Israel faria dela a progenitora do maior Rei de Israel. Mas ela seguiu seu coração.
Noemi é uma personagem do Antigo Testamento da Bíblia, mencionada no livro de Rute.

De acordo com o relato bíblico, nos tempos em que os juízes governavam a nação de Israel, houve um período de carestia em Canaã, pelo que Noemi e seu esposo Elimeleque, bem como seus filhos Malom e Quiliom migraram-se para o país de Moabe.

Com a morte de Elimeleque, seus filhos casam-se com Orfa e Rute, mulheres moabitas. Porém, ambos os descendentes vêm a falecer, pelo que Noemi resolve retornar para Israel.

Enquanto Orfa resolve permanecer em sua terra, Rute, mesmo sendo estrangeira, acompanha Noemi e ambas seguem para a cidade de Belém.

Sabiamente, Noemi buscar aproximar Rute de Boaz, um rico parente de seu falecido esposo, que se casam e geram um filho que se chamou Obed.

Informam os últimos versos do livro de Rute que Obed teria sido criado por Noemi, vindo a ser o avô do rei Davi.

A história de Rute e Noemi reivindicam o direito do estrangeiro e da viúva que sempre foram fortemente rejeitados na história de Israel.

RUTH was walking beside Naomi on a road that stretched the dry plains of Moab. There was no one besides the two in the middle of that vast landscape. Ruth teaches us that small decisions can sometimes have extraordinary repercussions. Ruth did not know to follow Naomi to the land of Israel would make her the mother of the greatest King of Israel. But she followed her heart.
Noemi is a character in the Old Testament of the Bible, mentioned in the book of Ruth.

According to the biblical account, in the days when the judges ruled the nation of Israel, there was a famine period in Canaan, so Naomi and her husband Elimelech and her sons Mahlon and Chilion migrated to the country of Moab .
